Senior Server Engineer:

This position is a challenging role for an experienced server support engineer. Applicants will need to design, plan, specify, build, install, configure and fault find servers, active equipment, networks and a wide range of products, hardware and software.

Successful candidates will possess at least 4 years experience in an ICT commercial support environment with a detailed track record of design, setup, installation, configuration and monitoring of server and networks with an excellent knowledge base to include:

MS Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008, SBS2003, SBS2008 STD & Premium
Multiple servers in one location and in multiple disparate locations
AD Migration projects
MS Distributed File System Replication (DFSR)
MS Exchange 2000, 2003, 2007 - detailed working and multiple site working
MS SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 and Enterprise, MySQL - maintenance, backup and restoration,
Server, network and remote data backup systems and server recovery systems
MS Office applications
Enterprise level anti virus
Firewall, VPN and VLANS
LAN, WAN and wireless networking
Linux server management would be helpful
Server builds to include installing setting up, configuring ALL aspects including RAID arrays
Database management, maintenance, backup and restoration,
Domain Name management and configuration for mail and web
MS Windows XP Professional, Vista Business & Premium, Windows 7 Professional


This is an extremely varied role for a customer facing, practical, proactive and dedicated individual. Applicants must be good communicators with the ability to work under pressure and on their own initiative. Our clients are located across the South and South West of England, regular site visits are required for installations and maintenance which cannot be completed remotely. Some out of hours, working away overnight and weekend work is required to minimise disruption to our clients.

We are an IT Support company with about 30 clients providing ad-hoc and regular visits with networks ranging from 1 to 100 users. We are a small team who work closely together, yet much time is spent working independently. As our senior server engineer you are solely responsible for all server related matters.
